Yesterday I cycled from Ballycastle to Sligo, it rained full on for about 48 of the 58 miles. As usual the Irish hospitality won out, I got offered a lift by Fergus (a surfer and free diver) the last agonising 3 miles into Sligo as the heavens opened again, and the N15 wasn't a nice place to be. Then cycling out to the Pearse Road to look for B&Bs I was overtaken and got chatting to John on his cycle home from work, he offered me his spare room for the night, but I couldn't face his 7 mile commute. But anyhow I can tell you that the VeeCeeze B&B shower (heated by two excellent solar panels), was one of the best showers ever last night.
As usual though I got distracted by the great shops and bars along the way. Here is a selection from Ballycastle through Ballina, Inishcrone, Dromore West, Ballysadare and into Sligo on the Mayo coast.
Today I'm heading north towards Donegal, and I can hear the rain hammering down once more, but I think I'll put on full rain gear today, you get a bit sweaty and stuff, but dry feet are worth suffering for.
